Got ur Done!!!!!

This morning was my 16 miler all by my lonesome.... but my plans for today were thwarted by a mild severe thunderstorm (like 50 lightening strikes a minute according to WTOP news radio). I arrived at R's house right before 7am with the kids in tow (only we couldn't get out of the car for like 10 minutes because it was raining SO hard).

Since it was raining, R let me use her treadmill with her daughter A and her son A watch Kiera and Brock - what a blessing.

As you know... I HATE treadmills, but I made the best of it and watched the Today Show (did you know that there is a larger disparity between working mothers and working women's pay then working women and working men's pay? Apparently working mothers suffer big time just because they have children - I mean they make less money and feel way more guilty - UGH!) (Oh, and this man in Cape Code had a hard time breathing and his doctor's couldn't figure it out... finally an x-ray showed that he had a pea sprouting inside his lung for 2 months - WOW)

Anyway, I managed 5.7 miles in 60 minutes (treadmill shut off at 60 minutes). See that after glow of sweat?

So I decided to check on the weather and it was all clear to run outside. It was about 78 degrees with 94% humidity at 8:20 when I started outside. Yes, I used my iPod, but I run with only one ear bud in and the other attached to my shirt. I feel safer that way.

The neighborhood had a nice paved path, but it was hilly and there was virtually no shade. I made do and kept running. The other strange thing was that sometimes the path would just end... no notice, no clue... just stop. It was strange and forced me to turn around.

I decided to fuel ever 40 minutes today and it worked well. I used Hammer gels in vanilla flavor and I had no issues with my tummy.

All and all, I felt good. My total time for 16 miles was: 2:43:47 which is about a 10:15 pace... a little fast for my long run, but I bet the treadmill helped my average. Here I am stretching in R's foyer after just running the 10.3 outside - by the time I was finished, I am sure it was in the upper 80s.

So there you have it... my long run for the week is completed. (Jealous?) I will run my 8 on Saturday in NC. Happy racing and long runs!

I TOTALLY believe the first story. I would like to advance in my career but not at the expense of my kids, so I don't go for things that non-moms could go for.. URGH!
