4am run....

Yesterday, I had 8 miles on my schedule. It was hot, so I tried to do it on my neighbor's treadmill. I HATE the treadmill and despite an awesome episode of Intervention on the Tivo, I could not pull it off - 4 miles in 43 minutes.

I called it quits and vowed to get up this morning and run my 8 (today called for 4, but I did that last night). Well, I ran 1.5 miles in the rain... until I saw lightening. I raced inside to view the Dopler Radar and sure enough... not just rain, but thunderstorms.

I actually enjoyed running in the rain. It felt great... but I did not want to risk it in the lightening. I should have had my husband snap a picture as I undressed because I was soaked. I decided to stay awake for a little to see if the storm would subside, but it did not.

Hope the storm holds off for tonight, but the rain can stay! I'm off to snooze a little more before the little ones wake... any advice on how to get through a treadmill run... anything more than 3 really turns me off.

You certainly are trying to get those miles in, if only the weather would cooperate! You just have to suck it up sometimes on the treadmill - think about how you want to get this run done and not cut it short. I'm big on playing games with the speed/incline levels, or only allowing a water break every x-miles. Do whatever it takes to get those miles in!

uhg. the dreadmill. I have heard of women running 20 miles on a dreadmill, but I don't know HOW they stand it!

I haven't done it all summer. Will be back on it soon. Yuck!

Yes, running in the rain is great - as long as there's no lightning!

Hope you got your run in. I agree - it is great to run in the rain. It always seems a bit weird to head out the door when it is raining. But I have done it many times. ;-)
