Running in Florida

Yes, that is right, folks! I landed in Florida a little after 9pm last night. By the time we got our rental car and made it to the hotel, it was well after 10pm. We climbed into bed around midnight... or just shy of it. But my morning brain still woke me up early. When the clock read 6:07am, I finally decided to creep out of bed and get dressed to go run. I tried not to wake M and since I put all of my clothes in the bathroom, I wasn't too loud.

I headed down to the lobby to decide whether I would run outside or on the Mill. A nice guy at the desk, Will, told me that there was a little "lake" that people ran around near the hotel. You know how much I loathe the Mill, so I walked outside at at 6:15am the humidity was AWFUL. I immediately turned around and headed to the Mill. I successfully did 4 miles on the Mill. They were LONG miles. I tried to maintain a pace under 10 minutes... but it was hard and hot. I did stop 3 times to get some water. Anyway, it is done... 4 miles.

And yesterday I ran 4.5 miles with the baby and jogger... so I am really getting up there with my mileage!

Monday: 9.1 miles
Tuesday: 5.76 miles
Wednesday: 3.96 miles
Thursday: 4.5 miles
Friday: 4 miles

We do not have ANY plans while we are in West Palm Beach.... just to relax, go with the flow and have FUN!!!!

I may not comment on all of them, but know I am reading your blogs.

And I just remembered: how can I do Rock Your Socks Virtual run outside? I may have to buckle down and just do the 10k. I forgot to bring my water bottle holder too. Do not see how I can run 13.1 miles in the humidity. Calling all those Florida bloggers:
How do you run outside now?

Yes, it is HOT and HUMID here in FL. I would not even run a 10K w/o fluids on me. Maybe you can pick up something at a local running store? Actually, any water bottle will probably do as you won't be breaking any speed records in this weather, just hold it in your hand. I often just run with a regular 16 oz bottle of water like you'd get from a grocery store.

Enjoy your time in FL!!

Florida humidity now is good training for Md. humidity in a few weeks, right?

Yup - humidity certainly strains the system. In the summer our hummidity in WI can get really high - not as bad as Florida.

Drink lots of water.

ENJOY and relax this weekend.

I stupidly ran yesterday at 11am and it was bruuutal. I might have to suck it up and go with early morning runs to try and beat the heat.

Just run with a regular water bottle. It's not that hard.

Good luck and enjoy your FL time!
