"You can do anything for 30 seconds"

I love one liners and last night during the Plyometrics DVD for P90X, Tony Horton said, "You can do anything for 30 seconds." Of course, it was during the jumping squats (you do a squat and then jump completely up and then squat down again... repeating to maximum reps in 30 seconds). It was tough, but got me thinking... 30 seconds really isn't that long. And he was right, I could do it (albeit not in perfect form). Tony can be quite motivating and his sense of humor is entertaining (nothing better than laughing while working out). The best part, is that someone on the DVD is always showing you how to do the low-impact version. I think this is why it is working for me because it does not seem impossible. But let me warn you: Plyometrics is TOUGH!

My hubby and I opted not to finish the 58 minute DVD since we spent most of the day shovelling again. We took turns in 30 minute increments. I even started doing twisting throws (similar to what I learned with my trainer with the medicine ball, but think: shovel filled with heavy snow and me in the worst snow getup ever). And I felt it by the afternoon in my obliques (is that what you call your abs on the side?)

On the schedule for today is: Shoulders & Arms, and Ab Ripper X. Hopefully, our arms will be ready for this after all of our shovelling. And since Mr. Plowman was awesome at 2 in the morning (seriously I watched him for over an hour - for no reason) and completely removed the snow in the street, almost to the pavement, and left nothing in front of our driveway to shovel, I may even get in a little run this afternoon!

Oh, to run again. I ran about a mile yesterday in UGGs. I did not plan on it. I walked about to see how the streets were since hubby needed to go to work, and decided to run back. Not sure I could have managed in my running shoes, though.

No pictures today. I just want to remind you to check out my
dual giveaway. I am almost to 100 followers... so THANK YOU! The more regular and even better giveaways are just around the corner now as my sponsors are getting excited!!!!

What is your favorite one liner that keeps you
going?

I tell myself, "I can do anything for X minutes" all the time during races! And it's true!

My husband did P90X, I couldn't handle it on top of the running, just not enough hours in the day to do both. but I'm going to start the cardio workouts this week. I'm sort of dreading it because Tony makes me want to poke my eyes out.

Probably since dealing with my dad's cancer that this line has meant a lot to me:

Live every day as if it were your last and one day you'll be right.

I love one liners. And they can be great motivation. Oftentimes I just ask myself "can i do what is in front of me right now?" because i tend to get caught up in what lies ahead, the next set or the next 20 mins I have to get through or tomorrow's training. All that really matters is RIGHT NOW when it comes down to it though.

I always say, I can do anything for a mile ...

I have P90X just sitting here and I keep getting sidetracked on starting. Do you love it?

I always tell myself that I enjoy this. Do it because I like it. Although...I end up back at that "come on just 5 minutes"

Great post! One liners are wonderful! One of my favorites is "You aren't going to get faster unless you train faster."

I had to jump in and comment when I saw that..."you can do anything for 30 seconds" Oh I remember that line. I have to do P90x again. I need the jump start to drop some weight. Running like crazy makes me eat like crazy. Ugh!

Have a great Valentines Day!

Hi Jen,

Found your blog via Steve's.

I love Tony Horton too and his cheesy one liners! Did two rounds of p90x and dropped about 40 lbs. If you follow the workouts and nutrition requirements the results will be amazing.

That's funny b/c when I read your title, i thought 'wow, actually, those last 30 seconds of a hard set/sprint is FREAKIN' hard. It's such a mental thing! Oy! Seriously, when i have a 30 sprint session it takes everything in me to last the entire 30 seconds;-)

& when it makes sense, PUSH hard on those jumpies! :-) Sara

I go for the traditional "just do it." Nike was dead-on when coming up with that slogan!

Thanks for checking out my blog...I didnt know you can get body-glide at Target. Ill have to buy some!

Good to know the PX90 series works. I had no idea. Keep up the good work!

Have a good weekend!

I love that quote! and I can't believe you ran a mile in UGGS. I love my beloved UGGS when I'm home in WI but I could never imagine running in them. Kuddos to you

Those jump squats are hard, but they do a great job at toning that butt and making our legs stronger.

Thanks for making a give-a-way!

When I ran the Richmond Marathon, there were folks lining the streets with cow bells... so when I was lagging and soggy at miles 17 - 19, screaming "Need MORE cow bell!" got me through. I also am vain enough to think I may have entertained my fellow runners...

And, sweet pavement! AMEN! ~sigh~ we're getting RAIN TODAY!!! Sorry about your 4 inches, I will pray that the southerly winds that are bringing us rain will reach you in MD.

Finally - I'm starting P90X today... YEAH!
