Then and Now

So I decided to start with a picture from the first day of the challenge. When the Gazette called me to let me know that I was one of the finalists, I had no idea that I would actually be chosen to take part in the competition. This picture was taken about a 1/2 hour after I was selected. We were told to make a serious face, but this was the best I could do. On this day, March 30th, I weighed in at 197.5lbs. I did not realize that I was that big. My BMI (which basically measures your lean muscle mass verses your fat) was 35.5 or 5.5 points into the Obese category. I was wearing large size 14 clothes at this point and XL shirts.

The competition ended on June 28th, and my final weigh-in (where I became the first woman ever to win the entire competition) was 156.5 or a BMI of 28.2 which put me 3.2 points into the Overweight category. This means that during the 12 week competition, I dropped my BMI 7.3 points which is incredible. The staff at Holy Cross Hospital (they monitored our weight loss and weighed us in each week) prepped us before hand that we would not be able to drop our BMI more than 2 or 3 points. So, everyone was amazed at how many points I did drop. What is your BMI? Calculate it here. This is the best picture I could find from the finale. It is a little small, but the outfit at a tailored size 12 was too big. I am currently buying size 10 clothes and size M shirts.

In order for me to be in the Normal Weight category, I should weigh no more than 138 lbs. This means, I still have some work to do. Will you join me?
