Not TOO Shabby Birthday and July Recap

I celebrated my 34th birthday on Friday. I made out pretty well this weekend. Sunflowers - my favorite!!!! A "As long as you're sweating you're still ALIVE" Nike shirt, 3 books (Running Anatomy, Born to Run, and Duel in the Sun), a cute flower pot and a flower necklace. Sushi lunch and a movie with a girlfriend, dinner out with the family and frozen yogurt! YUM!

I guess from 80% of the gifts, you can tell I am obsessed with running. I am looking forward to reading these when I finish the other one.

Dinner out with the family was good. I got to get "dolled" up and of course the kids didn't eat, but my beef tip salad was awesome.

Before I forced her to eat just one chicken tender!
Lyle had crab cakes and like any good husband, offered me the first bite. They were yummy too, but I am a meat girl at heart, especially since we only eat seafood (and occasionally turkey) at home.

After dinner we walked to 16 Handles where we each got to pick our dessert. I think we were all thrilled to be individualized by our selections.
Half way through eating, I realized that I could have gotten mine free since it was my birthday and they didn't sing "Happy Birthday" to me. So the chorus began and since there were no candles, I teasingly blew in each of their faces... the kids laughed hysterically over that.

All in all, it was a good, low key day!

Okay, back to the serious business, July recap:

Well, folks, this was the lowest mileage month since... well, March. UGH!

Stats: July total was 153 (down from 223 in June)
Total miles for 2011: 1469

Running: 81 (down from 83 in June)
Cycling: 64 (down from 134 in June)
Swimming: 3 (down from 6 in June)

It is obvious that my cycling and swimming will drop since I am in week 2 of marathon training. I have a 2 mile swim this Sunday that I am pretty stoked about, but the 10 day hiatus from swimming due to stitches is making me a little nervous. Doctor said I could come in tomorrow to possible have stitches removed if I am healing well... here's hoping!

How did you July measure up?

Love that photo of you. You look so happy!

Birthday months are the best. And you celebrated in style.

My July was not so runnerific but a much more well rounded month overall.
