Marathon Training Day 1 - NOT

On Saturday, I attempted to run for 1 hour and 50 minutes.

2 hours and 14 minutes later, I had finished. It wasn't pretty. First 7 or so I was happy with, but the last bunch stunk. It was hot. I couldn't catch my breath. I walked a little... then a little more. Gave TG the old "go ahead, I'll catch up".  I slowed my pace down.... way down. I never did catch TG.

12.7 miles done. And my quads were tight as anything come Sunday. I haven't really ran long in a few weeks. And taking off of a week to let my ankle issue heal (and it still feels awesome, btw) and then only running an 8k race last Saturday, I haven't been tacking on miles like I should be.

And this week, with the whole cyst discovery and then fretting over it... I backed down. I wanted to run again yesterday so I knocked out 4 miles before the sun came up... nice and slow. I was tired from sweating my tush off at the swim team banquet on Saturday night... seriously, look how hot I am in this picture with Kiera. It was only like 101 degrees earlier that day.

Today is the big day. I was supposed to be starting my marathon training today. RIC with Bob in November. I did complete Day 1 training: 3 mile run in 26:14, nice and slow. Its Day 2, I should be worried about.

But at 11:45 EST, I am scheduled to have the cyst removed. I'm nervous, but I trust my doctor. Hope to catch you tomorrow with very positive news. Say a prayer for me today, okay?
