Friday's Frets, Facts, and Fun

Frets: My first Tri is a week from Sunday.... EEEEEEEK! Can you say, NERVOUS? SCARED? I have been bragging about my swimming, but what if I freak out in the open water? I have tested my wetsuit, but what if I cannot get it off? What if I forget something like my helmet when leaving transition and have to go back? What if I run out of transition after the bike and forget to take my helmet off?

There is SOOOOO much more things to think about with Triathlons. With running, you just RUN, get dressed ONCE... AHHHHHHH! What if I fail... what if I am the last one for each leg? What if they close the course down and I cannot finish? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Facts: READY! Yes, even though I am scared to death and have no idea how my body will react to a Tri, it is ONLY a sprint. I'm ready.  I have a good cardio base (TriGuru keeps telling me this), but since this is my first, I am nervous. Nerves tend to make me stronger though (when I am not puking) so I hope to use the adernaline and push myself. I know I won't win. And I even know I won't be last. I am ready! I have practiced. I know what to expect. I cannot be more prepared... and can I just say that my Tri bag is almost completely packed... yeah I am a dork!

Fun: I am subbing in Kindergarten again today. And this morning, I had over 30 hugs from students and over 25 high-fives (you know from the more shy kids). It FELT awesome. They are so cute when they aren't your kids. I can handle them for a day. I get to be goofy, and make them laugh (Like I took attendance in my best ValleyGirl voice and they loved it).

It  feels really good for students to say hi to me in the hall. My kids get excited to see me and don't even mind when I kiss them in front of their friends (I know, this will change soon). I am certified to teach HS and NEVER felt called to elementary school, but I think I could get used to this.
I know a couple of you are racing this weekend and I will be praying for your safety! Go get'em!

You will do great on our Tri! Though I now have this image of you running out of transition in your wet suit with your cycling shoes and helmet on. You definitely won't do that.

And I love Kindergarten! They are soooo cute and very funny. Middle schoolers scare me though and I can't even imagine teaching high school. You are a brave woman indeed!

Your very first triathlon!? Oh, hun, you are going to be addicted! Yes, it's a bit overwhelming at first with trying to remember every little piece of clothing and stuff for each discipline, but you will get into a routine. I know when I did my first and was packing for it, I went through every motion in my head, making sure I had everything!
