So what's next?

Okay, My Big Bad Half Marathon did not happen. So what's next?

I know I mentioned that I have the Cherry Blossom 10 miler this Sunday but as I have been told, this race is soooo crowded that it will be hard to race it... or at least race it for a PR. My unofficial PR during a long run with TriGuru was like 1:27.

After this race, the next one is the scariest. It is my first TRIATHLON. Ahhhhhhh! Okay, enough screaming. It is on April 17th and it is Rumpus in Bumpass Sprint Tri at Lake Anna. I have NOT had enough time on Athena. I NEED to get more seat time, but I would rather run. But April 17th is like 3 weeks away.

After Rumpus, my next official race is the 2011 Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon on June 26th which will be an Olympic. So, yeah, I NEED to get more seat time. And in order to do that, I need to find someone more compatible with me on the bike. I did express my concern with the local Tri group, so hopefully, I will just get more comfortable to show up for rides since there apparently are some slower riders coming out. I am just gun shy.

And if you follow me on Facebook, you saw that I finally registered for the Richmond Marathon on November 12th. This will be a race that I run with Bob. I promised Bob that if he ever wanted to run a marathon that I would do it with him, since he ran almost 11 miles of my first marathon with me. I am excited to be there with him to see him finish. (BTW: In case you did not read yesterday's post, he ROCKED the half marathon with a 2:11).

I WILL find another half marathon so I can squash my current time, and perhaps another marathon... my kids are rooting for Disney. Who knows?
I would love a small marathon where the support is still great and the weather awesome. Any suggestions?

First, I disagree with that assessment of CB. It is a fantastic PR race (mine is there). Love that race. And second, Richmond fits the bill for what you are looking for (another PR course for me). You'll love it.

OMG you and I are on the same tri path! My next one is the 16th (sprint) and then I have an Oly on May 1st. I'm basically crapping my pants about the bike portion. LOL! Good luck to us both!

Just sent you an email, then saw this post -- check out the Mont. Co. Road Runners' Parks Half Marathon on Sept. 11. It's almost all paved trail starting in Rockville and ending in downtown Bethesda. I think it's only ~3,000 runners, and online registration opens on April 2!

Darn -- you're looking for a small Marathon, not a half. Oh well. If I hear of a good one locally, I'll shoot you another email.

What do you call small? I am always trying to get people to come to Vermont For Vermont City Marathon. It is the best.

I have no recommendations but I am in awe over all you have accomplished Jen! Great work!

Summertime is prime running season here in Minnesota. I'd recommend the Stillwater Marathon (Memorial Day weekend) or the Minneapolis Marathon (first Sunday in June). Both are smaller marathons.
