I have a new baby...

Last Saturday, I became an owner of a bike. Notice that I did not say, PROUD. Why? Well, because spending that much money for something that is not a necessity FREAKED ME OUT! I felt like I was going to puke when he swiped my card. TriGuy thought that I would be excited, that I would be smiling, but instead I could not even take the bike out of the store.

Really? Yes, really! And then by Monday, I could not believe that I had bought a bike and left it at the store. A little CRAZY, right? Since then, I have become a proud parent. I am ECSTATIC to introduce you to my bike. I bought a Felt 11 ZW75 - whatever that all means. I think it is beautiful.

I feel like I birthed this bike for two reasons:

1. I have been dragging my feet researching, riding, and more researching, not to mention talking TriGuy's ear off about getting a bike.

2. It cost way too much for entertainment (just like having kids).

And like any proud parent, I think it is beautiful. I refuse to let my real children touch it. I haven't named him yet (yeah, I think it should be the masculine part of my Triathlon experience) but I am leaning towards real TOUGH names like: Mangus, Spike, Dirty Harry, Rambo, Rocky; but I like the name my father suggested: The Intimidator (a double entendre). I'll keep you posted as to the official naming ceremony.

And I went yesterday to get fitted, but I still do not have my shoes, so I did not get fitted because apparently, you need bike shoes for that - Who KNEW? Now I have to go and get shoes so I can get fitted and then I hope I can "ride" it. And by riding it, I don't mean outside in the snow. I mean with a trainer... at least I hope!

Isn't it awesome?

My kids have threatened within inches of their lives to even look at mine too!

I hope you enjoy it!

Woot woot! Love the baby! :) I have one, too - and I had sticker shock as well. but when you're under 5' tall, buying a bike off of Craigslist is nearly impossible. There aren't many hobbits around these parts, and if there are they evidently want to keep their bikes!

Congrats! He's a beauty. I too feel that my bike (Pepe by the way) must be a boy. Anything that spends that much time in close contact with my lady parts has got to be male.
And I did in fact tell my actual children that I loved Pepe more than them, and that if they touched him, they were going to be disowned.

SA-WEET! I'm also supposed to be looking at a bike this week (STUPID SNOW POSTPONED MY RIDE). Mine's a girl, already "trained" for Tri's, named, 'Trina. Hopefully Trina and & I have good chemistry, just like you & (insert male name here). Make sure its a short name, for blogging purposes.
