September

I wasn't going to look at my stats for September... but decided I NEEDED to... are you ready for this?

Total miles run: 69 (compared to 178 last month)

I started to get sad... but a good friend said to me: "What you were doing when you weren't running was just as IMPORTANT!" I was resting.... I was healing.

Not running for 13 days and 7 hours may be just what I need to get to the start line of my marathon. And I WANT to get to the start line. I have 30 days until my race. I have a 12 miler tomorrow and I will attempt my 20 miler next Saturday. Then I cannot wait to TAPER!

I would have been 5 miles more that 69, but since I rested, healed, I have a new outlook. I was supposed to run 5 miles on Wednesday, but started to feel sick - total head cold - probably allergies. I decided to rest and see how I felt on Thursday. And yesterday, I felt even worse. So I rested again. And today, I feel 80% better....

As my East Coast friends know, we have had lots of rain. Had I run sick in the rain, I may not have been able to do my long run tomorrow. I KNOW I made the right decision. I want to get to the start line. I want to get there without injury and feel ready.

I have updated my goals for the Marine Corps Marathon:

1. Cross the finish line with a smile (hands in the air)
2. Cross the finish line without injury
3. Have fun and ENJOY the last mile
4. Get Christy

Want to know what Christy is? Stay tuned!

I agree getting to the finish line injury free and smiling will be a great goal for this race, I guess sometimes we forget that this is just one race with many more to come, so what if we just do this one just for the fun of it.

Enjoy your long run and taper.

The good news is - that you are back running and feeling good. Keep it up and you will so enjoy crossing the finish line.
