Treadmill Fall

This mornings weather forecast called for morning thunderstorms. Having already experienced a run cut short by lightening, I opted to sleep in. At 6:45 when I woke up... I saw nothing but SUN. Bummed that I missed an opportunity to run outside, I decided to hit the condo's treadmill while Lyle took the kids out on the beach.

I ran the first mile on the treadmill without issue... but I was started to get hot in the little exercise room. I noticed that there was a fan, so after 1 mile, I stopped the treadmill, hopped off and turned the fan on. I felt much better as I had already stripped down to my running skirt and sports bra.

And then it happened...

A little history first: I like the zip front UA sports bras... but as I have lost weight, the top of the zipper has started to chafe me. I have begun wearing a band-aid there to prevent scaring... seriously, it chaffed so much that I had a scab there for like a month - gross, I know. And today for some reason, I placed the band-aid too low....

I was running with the speed of the treadmill at a 6.7... I am not sure how fast that is as it was an old treadmill, but I glanced down at my bra and BAM!!!!!!!!!!! I was on the floor. Apparently, as I looked down, I stepped off the side of the treadmill and I landed on my left shin... which is know supporting a pretty gnarly bruise.

At first my ego hurt the most, but thankfully there was no witnesses. I wanted to quit because it REALLY hurt. But then I got angry and decided to finish my measly 4 mile run. And I ran FAST. I cranked the treadmill up to 7.2 and finished the next 3 miles in no time. Total time: 32:25

Tomorrow there will be no sleeping in for me. I have a 9 miler, go to the beach with the kids, pack the car, and drive home... and get ready for Kindergarten Orientation for my little man. Yesterday the weather really stunk (and today wasn't too much better except for the morning), but we did head to the boardwalk to get our yearly picture...

And Lyle continued the vacation tradition of having ice cream for dinner. About 4 years ago we waited until 6:30 to go to dinner and EVERY place we went (like 6 different places) told us it would be over an hour wait. Well, with two kids under 3... waiting was not an option. So, Lyle said, "Let's get ice cream for dinner!" And we did and there was no line. The kids loved it so much, that was the first thing they old people about our vacation. I think it is a neat tradition... but I am not sure how a banana split will feel during my 9 miler tomorrow in the early am... check back tomorrow to find out.

Oh, man. I hope you feel ok tomorrow (after the fall, not the ice cream!) I hope your 9 miler goes well tomorrow!
I love your tradition. My kids are always REALLY excited when we do dessert before dinner.

That is a tradition I could embrace.

That doesn't even look like the same family as the one in the picture from a couple of posts ago. :) You look beautiful and your kids have grown so much!

I hope you don't wake up tomorrow in more pain from your fall today. Have a great run!

Sorry about your fall. I'm really clumsy and worry about falling when I'm on the tm. I hope you feel better for your run tomorrow.

That's a great picture of you guys. I have to say at first glance I thought you were a teenager. You look really young!

Ouch! I have totally done that before. Funny you said that about the UA bra. My friend that ran with me last night was talking about that bra chafing her.
