Five Days of Giveaways: Day 5

The last 4 days have been awesome. When I thought about doing Five Days of Giveaways leading up to my 100th post, I was not thinking that if I post twice a day (giveaway announcement and winner announcement), I would reach 100 before today. So, this is my official 103rd post! Yay!

And today's giveaway is for a SURPRISE package! And let me just tell you... if you thought the last 4 days have been great giveaways, you will DEFINITELY want to enter this one.

And guess what: To keep it simply, I only want one comment per person (besides being my follower - visible in my followers section please):

Leave me ONE comment and tell me something that would SURPRISE me!!!

  • An interesting fact like: I have an identical twin sister, Janet (that is her picture), and she is expecting her 3rd child on June 23rd (my daughter's birthday)
  • Or a funny story that would make me laugh (keep it clean please): Not sure why it is about Janet this morning, but in 9th grade during Marching Band, her boyfriend grabbed my butt thinking I was her... and when I turned around he begged me, " Please do not tell Janet, she will kill me!" And I ran right over to her to tell her!!! LOL!
  • Or a weight loss tip that I did not know about: Drink MORE Water - most of us go through life dehydrated. If you think you are hungry in between meals, drink a glass of water, wait five minutes. If you are still hungry, then eat. I drink between 90 and 100 ozs a day.
  • Or something else... just SURPRISE ME!
Please note: Only leave one comment. If you want to share all of these answers or more that you come up with, leave it in one entry. I want this to be simple!

And I will confess that I doubt I will announce Five Days of Giveaways: Day 4 winner at 11am (but be sure to enter before 11am). Today is my "day off" from PT Job #1 and #2, so I am taking my son to the park around 10am. But please check back to see if you win the Brooks shirt.

I hope you think today's giveaway is fun. It was meant to be that way. And remember, SURPRISE me. The best SURPRISE entry will WIN!!!!!

My hubs has a twin brother and he and his wife, and we both had a child on the same day: July 28!

Teamarcia- my oldest son's bday is July 28th, too.
Funny story- Many years ago, I went horseback riding with my brother's wife. The guys working there were very cute so I was being flirty and tried to catch their eye...I surely did when I put my leg up in the stirrup to get on the horse and my pants ripped from the waistband to the bottom of my pocket. Thankfully (very!) I was wearing granny panties so I didn't completely embarrass myself.

1. Interesting fact - I have known my best friend for 25 years. I am only 28. We met on the first day of preschool and didn't go to school together again until high school. But somehow, we always remained tight. Just goes to show that if a relationship is meant to be you shouldn't have to work hard for it.

2.This funny story is also a warning about getting too much fiber into a small child. So I guess it's also a health tip!

DO NOT by under any circumstances give your baby more than one serving of Fiber 1 in any 12 hour period ... they will explode!! Ok, well they won't literally explode, but you will be cleaning up one seriously messy poop. I learned this the hard way ... twice.

The first time Doodle had an Fiber 1 apple cinnamon muffin, it resulted in a complete poop-explosion. But, at least that time it was contained (mostly) in her diaper. Incident number two was a completely different story. Due to my own stupidity, Doodle had two Fiber 1 apple cinnamon muffins in less than 12 hours. What was I thinking? Ok, what I was thinking was, "If a little fiber is good, more is better!" So not true in toddlers!!

After said fiber overload, we gave Doodle a bath. When she was all clean, J called down to me to come get her and as I lifted her out of the tub it happened. The pressure of my hands on her stomach sent diarhhea all over the bathroom floor (and walls). Corn and black beans were everywhere! Oh and of course she wanted to crawl through the mess. I mean come on, who wouldn't? Then about three seconds after she erupted, we realized that Doodle had left Dizzle a present in the tub as well. Two jumbo-sized nuggets floating right on top! That ended the bathtime fun real quick.

A funny story/fact about me is that I have been dying my hair for so many years, that I do not remember what color it actually is. I know that it is some shade of brown...but I don't know if I have any grey in it yet or not...and I have no intention of finding out anytime soon! LOL!

Okay, here is a fact that I learned while out with a friend on her birthday this week. It is possible for a blue whale's tongue to be larger than an elephant!!!

I thought it was interesting, anyway. =)

Interesting story...
Exactly one year ago next weekend, I ran my first official race: the 2-mile River Run. Let's just say... I died. The person I was running with got so embarrassed when I "yelled" (had my headphones in, so I thought I was being quiet)...anyway, I yelled "my side hurts!!!" after the first mile.
Well here we are, one year later... and I finished my first 20-miler last weekend!!! Just goes to show you, if you stick with it, you can come a long way.

I follow!! What can I surprise you with, hmmmm. Well, my husband has three functioning kidneys! It's called bilateral kidneys. Both times I was expecting, we had fun bugging out the technician during the ultrasounds. They had to see if our kids inherited this trait! (They didn't).

Funny Story: I go to the gym every day at 4:45 am to work out before going to work. If I go in the afternoon...well, actually I won't go! Anyway, I always pack the night before and this particular time I had a softball game that night so I didn't get home until 9:30 and I was exhausted. EXHAUSTED. So I grabbed my stuff and threw it in my bag and laid out some clothes for the next morning. 4:45 am, the alarm goes off and I head to the gym. Which is all well and good except that I was so tired the night before that I laid out my gym clothes but never put them on! You see, to help me get to the gym, I sleep in gym shorts and a sports bra and then throw a shirt on when the alarm goes off. I got to the gym and the guy behind the desk gave me a funny look but didn't say anything. I worked out like normal and it wasn't until I got in the locker room to take a shower that I realized not only was I wearing two different running shoes (both Nike, different colors) but I was also wearing an almost see through shirt and a pair of boxers with ducks all over them! It took about a week for me to go back to the gym at my normal time, I was so mortified!

Here's something interesting. My younger son was born last year (July 10). My husband, his dad turned 25 (July 24). HIS Dad (my son's grandpa) turned 50 (July 1 same day my older son turned 2). And HIS Dad (my son's great-grandpa) turned 75 (July 15). Not planned at all. Cool, right?

Interesting fact I found about weightloss (and why it's important to lose excess) is: If you are more than 30 pounds overweight you are more likely to die of heart attack even if your blood pressure, blood glucose and cholesterol are normal.

I'll give you a surprise from the athletic world--I did an Ironman race 11 years ago. I trained my butt off for it, couldn't wait to do it. Everyone told me it would be the best thing ever. But you know what? It was just another day--fun, a good experience, but can it compare to any given day with one of my kids? Nah.

I am a follower and here is my funny story. Last spring about this time my oldest broke his wrist. He was being evasive about the circumstances and finally found out why.
He had been sitting on the wall in the dugout and felt the need to pass gas. He leaned over to aim it towards a friend (as teenage boys will do) and fell off the wall and broke his wrist.
I may have the only kid in the world who managed to break his wrist in the process of flatulence. Good Times.

So my surprises...hmmm..how about some random little things here:

-I have 5 children, 1 girl, 4 boys, all born within 8 years, 2 with the same birthday and 0 sets of twins, all born before I turned 30.

-You really want to pick me because my birthday is next Thursday

-I sang in a choir that performed in front of thousands of people and was broadcast to millions more.

-I don't like peanut butter and chocolate in combination (I know, I am probably the only person currently living on the earth who feels the same)

-I have had to ignore my PRs from the past so I can start creating new ones. I ran while in HS and for a year at a JR college. Back in college I could easily run a 23 5K, PRing at just under 21 minutes...now I hope to run my first 5K of the season this Saturday and HOPE to PR at 28 minutes...so technically I will probably never truly PR again, but I decided that that is ok, and I am going to ignore those times from when I was young, skinny and hadn't given birth to 5 beautiful children!

-Weight loss tip- RUN! Seriously, between my other pregnancies I tried walking and other forms of exercise, but NOTHING burned calories and melted off the baby weight like running :)

Did you know that just nine little Hershey's Kisses contain 200 calories?? It shocked the heck out of me when I read the label recently. I cringe when I think about all those times that I would polish off an entire bag of them in one sitting.

Well, of course I'm a follower and I'm leaving my one comment.

~It took ADP and me 10 minutes to decide on our last car (while we were at the lot). It took us a year to find the right dog to adopt.

~I cloth diapered my kids and I haven't had the heart to get rid of their diapers. OK, maybe this is just out there and not surprising.

~Weight loss piece all should follow: Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a queen and dinner like a pauper.

On a cruise many years ago me and my soon to be sister and law went dancing at the club. There was just a crew DJ there, when about 30 min. later they announced they had a suprise guest DJ. It was Howie from the BSB, we are not fans but still pretty cool. We stayed so late one night that after he left we continued to dance and he ended up coming back and we both danced a while with him.

Healthy fact - I've recently read that studies have shown for every 2 hours of exercise (running) you increase your life by 1 hour. Yipee!

Fun Fact - My second child was born on 6/6/06. So far she's been an angel though! ;) My third however... Ha!

Funny Fact about me: I have extremely vivid and crazy dreams that I often can't tell arn't real until I wake up. The most recent one was that I was in highschool and Mike Phelps was dating me but I didn't know that until he told me he loved me, then I went to a family member's home and it was consumed in shoes. I was trying to get them to build a wall of cubbies for the shoes, and everyone thought it was a good idea, but no one would do it.

My interpretation is that I've been thinking a lot about triathlons and swimming and also that I need shoes soon. All that in a dream because of what is on my mind. :)

My twin sister (you) children were born June 23rd and Oct 23.. pretty neat for us being twins.. and oo BTW my third baby will not be born on June 23rd Kiera's birthday(your daughter) because I shared my birthday with you my whole life.. my kid wont be sharing with your daughter if i have anything to do with it.. Love ya.. pick me pick me.. wouldn't it be weird if I won the one where you talked about me.. you better take a pic for sure in case people think it was fixed...but if they know you and I they would know that we would never pull each others name even if it was the only entry.. Twin Sisters got to love them...

Funny fact about me is...I go to the gym at 5am. I pump breastmilk before I leave, well I was so tired one day that when I left instead of grabbing my water bottle I took the bottle of milk with me and to top it off I also left with my slippers on instead of sneakers. Thankfully I noticed this before I got in the car, so I was able to fix them both.

I have identical twin boys who I think might be mirror image (as I hear you and Janet might be?) They were born 11 1/2 weeks premature but are wonderfully healthy now at 4 1/2. I am pregnant with my 4th boy due 2 weeks after Janet.
FUNNY story: When my oldest son was very young, we taught him the correct terms for ALL body parts. Partially b/c that's just how we are but also for safety reasons. He obviously was around me more than my husband while getting dressed etc. Well, when he was about 20 months old, he was taking a shower with my DH and said "Daddy, why is your vagina hanging out?"
LOVE that story! Out of the mouths of babes!

My interesting story is that 30 years and 9 months ago, my dad had a dream that my mom was pregnant, and that she'd give birth on his birthday (May 1 - also happens to be their anniversary) to a baby boy, who they would name Max. Sure enough, I had already been conceived and technology wasn't quite where it was today, so they didn't know the sex of the baby (me). I was also due on, guess what? May 1! :) My dad was a little surprised that I ended up being 3 days late and a girl, though! Thankfully, my mom didn't let him name me Max, even though he tried!

Here's my story:

On the day that we found out we were expecting our twins, we (dazed, confused and freaked out) went to pick up our then 4 1/2 year old son at his playdate.

When we got there and saw him we found that he had pooped in their backyard and then stepped in it. Needless to say, we were speechless twice that day!

Hmm...what to say....
I am expecting my 8th child-oldest is 11 (yes all mine, same father, no twins). I took up triathlon shortly after the birth of #7-on a dare. I then beat my hubby in the first tri we did together! (even though my swim time was over 10min longer than his) ha! take that hubby!
Also, my best run times have always happened on Saturdays, and are always after I've eaten Freschetta pizza the night before. Also my post event food of choice is either a turkey sandwich or cold leftover Freschetta. That pizza has magical properties I swear.

I'm a follower! Funny story - my husband has saved all of BW's shoes since birth (he's now 3). Usually the mom is the pack rat - nope - he has all of the shoes that he has ever worn in his workshop out back. I was fine with saving the first pair, but there are over 15 pairs of shoes out there. It is cute and sweet.

I was raised by total hippie parents. For a chunk of my youth, we had no tv, no bathroom (we had an outhouse), but we had a huge garden and raised chickens. At some point, we traveled around the US in a green van.

Have a great weekend!!!

I'm a new follower. My random fact...my sister and I are a 1 1/2 years apart. We went to college 1 1/2 hours away from each other. After college, I moved to DC 1 1/2 hours away from her. Sadly, we now live 3 1/2 hours away from each other. I owe her so much because she got me into running 10 years ago. We still meet half way in Tulsa to run a 1/2 marathon together each year.

My random fact...I had my last son unassisted at home. My midwife was late by 1/2 an hour. It was an awesome birth! I was the most confident and self assured as I have ever been in my life.

Here is a health tip. I was just suggesting magnesium supplementation and then read this.
Minerals that enhance sleep, recovery, healing, regeneration and growth like zinc and magnesium should be taken on an empty stomach before bed. The body's maximum daily release of growth hormone occurs 90 minutes into sleep. Zinc and magnesium may increase the effects of G.H. and peak absorption of these minerals occurs after 90 minutes. Take 20-30 mg of zinc and 400-500mg of magnesium.

Some funny things that are said quite often in my house:
"don't pee out the front door, use the potty! (remember I have 4 sons)"
"no mommy's don't have peanuts"
"no, your foreskin is not a pocket, be careful"
"yes honey, hugs are the very best"

Interesting fact: my second child was born at home, by choice. I gave birth to him in our bedroom after 30 minutes of hard labor and 10 minutes of pushing. This would explain why I believe that giving birth is easier than running a marathon. ;o)

When I was pregnant with my first child I was a little bit ditzier than normal. I lived close enough to my work, that most days I would walk to work. One Saturday, though, I drove the car... no big deal right? Well, by the time my day at work was over I had forgotten I drove the car and I walked home. Here's the best part: when I got home and the car wasn't parked out front I thought my husband must have gone somewhere. Much to my surprise he was inside though. So, I asked him what happened to the car to which he replied, "what are you talking about?" This still didn't jog my memory and I thought that our car must have been stolen right out of our driveway. As I started freaking out, my husband (between insane bursts of laughter) reminded me that I had taken the car to work. Needless to say I felt pretty silly especially when I had to go back into work to get the car keys & explain to my coworkers why I was back.
