Spring Cleaning- Entry Way, Part 2

Besides exercising, I have pledge to do some Spring Cleaning with beautiful2God's posse. Did you see my before pics? Click here if you missed them.

This is what I accomplished this week:

I cleaned out the clutter from my closet. I even found a size 4T raincoat that I borrowed from a friend (sorry R) and never returned. My daughter is currently wearing 6. I completely removed everything from the closet and did a good cleaning. Then I examined everything before putting it back it. Most did not make it. I found shoes two sizes too small, hats that my mother made like 4 years ago for my daughter... etc. I used the baskets and boxes that I already had and organized the winter accessories and added a new bigger box (I like to recycle) for the kids gloves, scarves, hats, etc.

Not sure if the before pictures showed this or not, but the trim around my main door had not been painted since we got a new door like 5 years ago. I painted it white and painted the closet door with a fresh coat and next to the closet is our hall bathroom, so I repainted that door white too. I am pleased at how fresh it looks.

I had wanted to paint the walls too, but I have such a hard time settling on the "right" color. I was so sure that I bought a paint at the store only to apply it in a small area and to say I hated it would be an understatement.

Our weekend project will be to settle on a paint color and give this wall a fresh look. I will redo the off white paint above and want an earthy green tone below the chair rail. Also, I will repaint the trim white to give it all a fresh look. Notice that there are no coats on bags on the stair rail. It has been naked all week. I pray it remains this way.

I also removed all of the pictures that were on the walls. I did not place them there with any purpose. One was a nice water color that my mother-in-law gave us and two were copies of our wedding invitation that people had framed as a wedding gift. I am vowing not to place pictures on the walls unless I want them there, not because I have no where else to put them.

I gave the hall rug a nice washing (*blush - I am not sure I have ever washed it) and God willing - Monday I will post a pic of freshly painted walls and pictures that are hanging with a purpose. I hope I am allowed an extension until Monday.

As some of you know I work part time as a youth minister and tonight is our Lock-in - meaning I stay the night at the church with about 10-15 middle high students. They are VERY good kids, but it will prove to be a long night and early morning. I hope I have energy to get this painting done before our new challenge on Monday (main bathroom)!

How did you do?

Looks great, and I know it feels much better too... Wall color, I'm sure, will be wonderful! From the looks of it so far, they all look great! :)

And YES, you can extend to whenever you need to! WORKING on it is the key... Hopefully I will have more progress to show on Monday also! :D

Thanks for working hard and linking up with us! :)

I wish I could get a day (or a couple hours) without kiddos so I could clean sweep my house (or a room)! Real cleaning feels impossible with kids in the house.

You did a great job! My address is....what? you are coming to do my house next right?!?!

Your entry looks great. I'm with you in colour choosing, I still haven't decided on a feature colour, I've been living with cream walls for almost 10 years.

Organizing is satisfying! I've been wanting to paint here for months. The swatch is taped on the wall reminding me. :-) And as a kid I loved church lock-ins--tons of shoe hockey, music, and good times.
