This is a remarkable milestone for me. As some of you who have been following me during the competition know, my goal weight was 150. I wrote about it here during the competition when I was told that I was going to be disappointed if I did not win the competition. Of course, we all know now that I did win, but it got me thinking about why I chose 150. I think it was because I felt the happiest when I was 150 (maybe because I could not remember when I weighed less).
I do not want to be obsessed with losing weight, although sometimes it seems like I am obsessed. I believe it is healthy to re-evaluate your weight loss goals. If I would have said at 197.5 pounds that my goal weight was 135, it would have seemed impossible. But at 149.8, 135 lbs seems doable.
This means that my knew goal is 135 lbs. It will put me in the "normal weight" category according to the CDC. I am not going to change what I am currently doing to reach this goal either.
I am going to continue to train for the marathon in October that I may or may not even get a spot in. I am going to continue with P90X (I am ending week #2 today with X Stretch - ooolala) with my husband. I hope to actually get a bike to start training for a sprint tri. And I am going to amp up my swim workouts also in prep for a sprint tri.
My husband is on his first business trip away from the kids and I since we got married. He is spending two nights in southern VA (only a 4 hour drive, but not worth it for him to do every day). Not sure what this will mean for either one of us. The kids are planning a sleepover in our bed. On the other hand, I am planning a sleepover with Dolce, the Wonder Dog (hubby does not let her sleep in our bed). Not sure who will win, but I know that our full size bed is not big enough for me with two kids and a dog.
There are two main obstacles while he is away:
- I need to eat. I tend to skip meals instead of over indulging, but I think I have come a long way and I can actually eat healthy meals while he is away. After all, I do not want to return to the 150 lb category.
- How am I going to run outside without someone to watch the kids? I just might have to call the gym and make a reservation for the kids and tackle my runs on the "mill". Not ideal, but at least I can get the miles in.
I hope everyone is having a good week. Remember that my giveaways end today and the winner will be announced tomorrow morning in Wednesday's Winner blog. If you haven't entered, be sure to do so today. And if you want an extra entry, link my giveaway from your blog or FB and leave a comment to let me know.

Congratulations!!! I know it's hard when the husband travels (mine used to all the time). Good luck with eating and getting the workout done!
Congratulations on breaking that 150 barrier! That's something I'm working towards myself.
Good luck this with with the hubs away.
High five on weighing less that 150! You are about the same weight I am right now.135 seems a little low, so remember not to make yourself so thin you look sick. Some of those guidelines are way off with what they think is the "norm" :)
What are you doing to loose that weight? Don't skip meals, thats really bad. Plus, skipping meals only makes it easier for the weight to come back!
congrats on making it this far, you are doing incredible!
Congrats!!!!!!
Congrats on going below 150!!!!! You are doing an amazing job...and I think your plans to help you continue while your husband is away are excellent ideas :)
Great job on getting healthy!
It is an empty feeling when dh is away. For me it is always a good reminder of what a big part of our lives he is.
We don't have a dog but somehow our two cats realized there is more room in the bed and they've decided to take possession.
Good luck tackling all the running logistics this week.
Way to go! Keep up the good work and I'm sure you'll get there in no time.
Wow good for you!! You are awesome!

YIPPEE!! Major congrats.. I have been at my goal weight for over a year now...now I am thinking hmmm I could be 10lbs lighter would be much easier for my marathon.. But you know, this is the weight my body wants to be.
GOOD LUCK balancing everything while hubby is gone.
Wow Jen, you look fabulous! You are such an inspiration...you keep on, there is nothing better than the feeling of health!!!
Yours in Health, Robin
Congratulations girl! keep it up! :)
Nice job;-)
also, is your potential october marathon the San Fran Nike? That one is AWESOME
Hey - Check my post today for a little Sunshine!
Great Job that is an exciting accomplishment!
Congrats on your milestone! Maintaining any weight is a challenge, but achieving your goal weight for a year is awesome!!
Also, I tagged you in an award. I believe you might have already tagged, but I wanted to send some sunshine your way!! :)
I always like what I call getting into a new 5 pound bracket. It feels so good!
you asked what kind of bike I have. I have a couple bikes. the first road bike that I bought (and raced my first sprint tri) is a Giant OCR2. I now use that as my commuter bike.
I race/ride mostly on my Lemond Versaille Carbon bike. I *love* how that one feels.
My primary suggestion if you want to do a sprint triathlon, though, is to get a road bike (not a hybrid or tri bike or mountain bike) that fits you well (this is REALLY important) and doesn't break the bank. Test a bunch.
Once you get into it more, you'll know exactly what you want and may want something else. But worry about that later and get something that you'll ride now.
YAY! A "virtual" sprint Tri Training partner AND someone with a goal weight I can really (REALLY) appreciate... DId I mention my goal weight is 133lbs? Thanks for dropping by today, you made my day. I'll let you know when I choose my Sprint TRI.
Sweet dreams with the dog and kids. Our dog sleeps with us every night. Kids are are too old. Enjoy!!!
Way to go on your weight loss. It is great that you are continuing to push yourself with a new goal. I talk about wanting to lose about 5-10 pounds . . . but just don't seem to do anything to make it happen.
;-)
Congratulations!!!
Good luck while your hubs is away.
