Car v. me...

Yesterday, during my 5 mile morning run, I almost lost my life (or severely injured myself).

I was almost hit by a car.

Can I blame it on the car? NO! Can I blame it on the rainy weather? NO! It was COMPLETELY my fault.

I was running across a busy intersection legally... I had the walk sign. But as I crossed the intersection, I decided to turn left ILLEGALLY! I looked at the cars turning, but the cars in that lane are also allowed to go straight (straight at me). I go straight at this intersection at least a MILLION times a week. I glanced at the cars turning (most of which did not have their turn signal on) and started across the street - ILLEGALLY. And a white car came within inches of me.

Would it have legally been their fault... remember pedestrians always have the right of way? Yes! But how would that have helped me if I was severely hurt or even dead?

My heart started beeping super fast as I finally did cross that intersection. I debated about stopping as it was only mile 1 of my 5 miler. Instead, I kept going and starting praising God for keeping me alive. Had the car been going a little faster... had I been running faster... it would have surely been a disaster.

I finished my 5 miler in 46 minutes thanking God. Please be safe out there people... take it from me - it isn't worth your life!!!!
