Running in the Heat and being THANKFUL

Yesterday, I ran almost 4 miles and it was HOTTT - 90 degrees to be exact in Maryland. It was hard to breathe... the pollen here is so bad. It looks like green snow. But it is only April. Thankfully, the evening was cooler and I enjoyed a nice walk with the dog and kids. Husband is sick with allergies so we have NOT resumed P90X after our break from it due to the cruise.

The good news is that cooler temps are coming our way for this weekend - like normal Spring temps. I know I said that I would not complain about it being hot when I was surrounded by 3 feet of snow, but I did not expect these temps in April. I mean it is warmer in MD than it was in the Bahamas last week. CRAZY!

After re-reading my post about the cruise and replaying my conversations to friends about the cruise, I thought I should post about being thankful. The cruise wasn't for me... but I am thankful because:

1. It was precious time with my family. 7 days to be exact. We never go on vacation for 7 days... usually just 4 or 5. We were confined, so we had to spend time together and talk and make memories... I am thankful that we got to do that on the cruise.

2. YUMMY FOOD - the food was so good... and so different from what we eat at home. I am thankful that I had the variety (remember we do not eat meat, besides seafood and turkey in my house), and I did not have to clean one dish! HOORAY! I did not even have to clear the table... the wait staff were at our beck and call. Many of them are away from their families... it made me sad - but I am thankful for them.

3. Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets - thanks to my early risers, I got to see the sun rise and set EVERY day on the cruise. I have never seen this in the middle of the ocean before.... and may never see it again. It was wonderful to view this. After uploading all of my pics to my computer, I counted 57 pictures of the sunrise and sunset - and I only took 157 pics all together.

4. Clear waters and the beautiful people of the Bahamas. Seriously, I did not see one ugly person. The women were gorgeous!!! I would love to live here... but wonder if I would appreciate it. We were at this beach as school was dismissed and it was awesome to see the children playing in the water. Their laughter and happiness was contagious.

What are you thankful for today?

I just caught up and so sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your self that's too bad.

I have heard that you either love cruising or hate it but it's what you make of it that makes it an experience.

I am going on one in November and can't wait. i hope it's a good experience, I've never been.

Sounds like there were definitely many enjoyable aspects to the cruise!

I'm with you on the heat. Trying not to complain yet (it's only APRIL!) but it really gets to me. I run so much better in cooler temps. Thankfully, cooler weather is coming back for the next week or so.

I'm thankful for friends who give you perspective when you lose yours.

And I, too, am thankful for cooler temps! I might actually get a good run in this afternoon!

Not doing dishes for a week would be AWESOME!! I mean, so is spending time with family :) But no dishes would be the icing on the cake! lol :)

Nice job getting through the hot run. Good luck getting back to P90x!

OK - 90 degrees is really hot to be running in. Since I am an early morning runner - 5:30 - it is really never that hot - I am not sure I could do it.

Way to go.

I am thankful that my work day has ended. I was really busy at work today and then had a meeting at church tonight. I just now sat down - had some pretzels and cheese and just might pour myself a glass of wine.
