I was determined to get my run in this morning. Hubby did not have to go to work today (a reason to love the snow) as the federal government was off again today and the House adjourned and the Senate adjourned until tomorrow (gives us time to shovel again). I let him sleep in and was prepared to run when he came down. I managed to keep the kids occupied while I caught up on bloggy world and when hubby came down, I said, "I am going for a run."
He said, "It is too dangerous... you don't know where the icy patches are because of the snow, and it is still snowing."
I said, "I think we have enough snow that the icy patches are covered and I will bring my cell phone in case I need you."
As I raced upstairs to get dressed in my UA cold gear, I started to have doubts. I got all the way down to my undies with one leg in those tight leggings (please pardon the image) and I started to cry. I know my hubby is right. What if I fell and got really hurt? What if a car hit me because the visibility isn't the best since it is still snowing and most of the sidewalks still have 3 feet of snow on them?
I haven't run since last Friday. I haven't run for 6 days!!!!! I feel so fragile. I feel like I will never be ready to run the marathon (which isn't even until October. The registration is in April and it is tough to get a spot - so come April, I may post... I didn't get a spot blog entry).
The Good: But since I did not go out and run, I am injury free (still minor back strain from shovelling). I can still stay on track with my P90X. Up for today is: Chest & Back and Ab Ripper X. After all, Tony Horton does not expect me to run and do P90X. I was putting extra pressure on myself.
Last night, I did X Stretch. It was AWESOME. It was 50 minutes of just stretching. It felt so good and I was still sweating, so I know I got a workout. Who spends over 50 minutes stretching? It was amazing... did I say that already?
Also, Hubby was feeling better so he caught up and did Kenpo X last night. Yay! So we can work out together again and since he isn't working, we will not have to wait until the evening to do it.
I feel better now. Thanks for listening (reading). I know the snow will melt enough for me to run eventually. After all, I do not live in Greenland. Here is the picture of my mailbox this morning.... see what a difference a day makes? Also, I must apologize to Mr. Mailman (in case he secretly reads my blog too). I got my mail yesterday and it was all junk mail. Maybe he did come on Monday and I just did not have any mail. If you did come Mr. Mailman, I was ready and I apologize for all of the people who did not make their mailbox clear for you.
