Changing my tune

Seriously, 10 - 20 more inches of snow is predicted starting tonight! I do not think I can handle any more! Maybe God is teaching me to appreciate it by giving me so much of it. That is just like my loving Father... to show me in abundance His love! So, I am changing my tune and it is not necessarily because God is forcing me too. He gives me free will and I am deciding to free myself of my hatred of snow. Afterall, snow is used to describe how Jesus makes me in the hymn: "Nothing But the Blood"

Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Yesterday, I shoveled for over 4 hours... 3 at one time. The first hour was trying to make a path for Mr. Mailman. Even though during my efforts, several people who walked by said he was in our neighborhood, Mr. Mailman stood me up. I hope he comes today or he will miss my tribute wall of snow to him.

During the second 3 hour stint, Brock, my 5 year old son, came out with me. He enjoyed it sooooo much. At the intersection, there was a huge mound of snow with a straight edge that he kept calling his "cliff". He loved climbing up it and even "falling" off it. It brought me great pleasure to watch him enjoying it so much. I even took a few breaks and tossed snow balls at him.

Needless to say, removing the mountain of snow at the end of our driveway so hubby could drive today really gave me a workout... and a minor back strain.

And to top that off, when Hubby got home, he told me he fell walking into work (think doing the splits in the middle of the sidewalk in DC... with one leg out and the other underneath of you - ouch!) and was too sore to do the P90X - Kenpo X DVD with me. I wanted to fold too, but I decided to do it anyway. I was glad that I did. Kenpo X was so much FUN! I felt like I was taking out all of my snow frustrations while kicking and punching. Kenpo X is like Taebo - remember Billy Banks? It was fun. And Dolce, the Wonder Dog, enjoyed "bothering" me too. So much so, that Brock decided to snap pictures of her. This one was his best shot: Dolce kissing me during stretches.

I am still desperately seeking Spring (and a treadmill), but think I have begun my love affair with snow. Thank you God for helping me love ALL of your creations by giving to me in abundance!

I dislike Kenpo very much :-)

good on your for shoveling and still sticking to it, I bet your are going to be sore tomorrow! Shoveling is a great workout on it's own.

My little dog likes to kiss my nose when I'm in plank :-)

I am not sure what I did but I deleted my last post! I just wanted to say "hi" and that I found your blog "encouraging" and that I could sympathize with all the snow because I am a southern Maryland girl! Good luck with all the snow! and also if you want my blog is

Good grief woman; you shoveled for over 4 hours! Wow!!! Now I know who took all of our snow this year. :)

I remember Billy Banks. I used to love doing his tae bo tapes after work. I had totally forgotten about him!

i would have definitely let shoveling count as my workout! nice job not ditching your regularly schedule one as well. i think i would've stood outside and let mr. mailman hand me the mail instead of doing all that shoveling :)

I used to live in New England and after snow was fun... for the first couple of weeks.
Since we moved to CA I like snow again... when I go to the mountains.
But I really like running in snow when I visit my relatives. Maybe it is because I don't have to do it for months on end.

Well that is one way to look at all that snow in a positive light! Good for you! I love the photo Brock took. LOL!

Today I ran with a group in which about half decided to run indoors on a treadmill because sunny 40 deg weather in FL was too cold for them. I kept thinking of you folks up north with all the snow. Sounds like you're getting in a lot of cross-training at least!
